Laurel County Homemakers
Extension Homemakers are people, like you, who learn together. More than 200 Laurel County residents belong to the Laurel County Extension Homemakers. Local members receive a monthly lesson, a monthly newsletter and other opportunities to learn through special interest lessons. Members gather together to promote their common goal of education in such areas as family/home life, family resource management and nutrition. Community involvement is encouraged through the giving of: high school scholarships, support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Program at the UK Medical Center, community events and much more. Extension Homemaker clubs are open to everyone without regard to race, color, age, sex, religion or national origin.

Specialty Clubs
Our Specialty Clubs focus on learning, developing and preserving a specific skill, interest or activity. There is a deliberate focus on sharing members skills with others to strengthen the community. You do not have to be an expert in the area—we are all students who attend to learn and grow. During the monthly meetings, members in these clubs work on personal projects, participate in group projects, and learn new techniques and methods from fellow members. Our specialty clubs meet at the Laurel County Extension Office.
