The Wilderness Trail Marketing Alliance collaborated with the Laurel County Cattlemen's Association and the Laurel County Extension Office to expand the current facility. Through a cost-share grant from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund (KADF), the project doubled the holding pen capacity, provided onsite restrooms for sanitation, and created areas for producers to conduct health examinations and treat both large and small animals. Matching funds were provided by Laurel County Farm Bureau, Laurel County Fiscal Court, Farm Credit Services, the Laurel County Cattlemen, and Ag Development funds from fourteen area counties. This event is open to the general public, and those who contributed to the project.
