Like us on FacebookThe Master Gardener Program was created by Extension to meet the enormous increase in requests from home gardeners for horticultural information.  In exchange for the training Master Gardeners receive, the individuals volunteer their time for the Extension Service in approved horticultural programming.  Past Master Gardener projects have included:

      • Home garden tours showcasing various types of decorative landscapes
      • Master Gardener Flower and Garden Show - various "how-to" workshops and vendors selling garden-related wares
      • Community Garden - produce donated to local food pantry
      • Children's Garden - educating children about vegetable production

Classes are presented by Extension agents and specialists from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Participants learn through in-depth study of: 

  • Botany

  • Fruit Production

  • Vegetable Production

  • Entomology

  • Plant Pathology

  • Integrated Pest Management

  • Soils

  • Turf

  • Annuals and Perennials

  • Plant Propogation

  • Organic Gardening

  • Woody Plants
