Shooting Sports

4-H shooting sports club is a program that promotes the safe use of firearms and archery as a sport and is used to make opportunities available for youth development. This club is for ages 9-18. The season runs from March-August.

Mandatory Sign Up & Safety Training

The annual sign up & safety training meeting will be Saturday, March 27th @ 10:00 am at the Laurel County Extension Office. Below you can find the registration form and practice schedule. Bring the completed registration form to the meeting.

Discipline & Cost

The disciplines that we offer include:

 Archery: (ages 9-18) $20

Rifle: (ages 9-18) $20

Pistol: (ages 13-18) $20

Shotgun: (ages 9-18) $50

**Discounts are offered to members who participate in multiple disciplines in the same program year. We also offer discounts to families with multiple children enrolled. Please contact our office to learn more.


Our Shooting Sports coaches are an essential part to keeping our program strong and viable. If you would like to become a certified shooting sports coach, please review the links below and return your registration form to the Laurel County Extension Office by April 22nd. 

New Coaches:

Returning Coach Recertification:

Certified Adult Coaches (CAC) and Certified Teen Coaches (CTC) are required to receive at least two (2) hours of approved continuing education annually to maintain their status as a CAC or CTC.

One of these hours will be a mandatory annual program/safety update provided by myself. Available online HERE.

The additional hour of Continuing Education can be obtained from any educational program relating to the safe use of firearms. 

Once a training is complete, the volunteer must submit a Recertification/Continuing Education Form (below) and the certificate generated from the online training to the Laurel County Extension Office by August 31st
