Agriculture and Natural Resources program provides non-formal education in the areas of agricultural production, homeowner plantings, and natural resource utilization. Specific programs include information on food production, farm business management, marketing and processing agricultural products, natural resource management and home lawn and garden information. We address issues dealing with environmental stewardship, the rural-urban interface, and value-added enterprises.

The Laurel County Extension Office will be hosting its annual Pruning & Grafting Workshop on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015.  Dr. John Strang from the University of Kentucky’s horticulture department will be conducting the workshop.

 
The pruning demonstration will start at 1:30 pm at a location to be determined. The grafting demonstrations will be at 10:00 am & 6:00 pm at the Laurel County Extension Office.  Light refreshments will be served at the end of the morning session and at the beginning of the evening session for those who register. For planning purposes, pre-registration is requested.
 
If you would like to purchase fruit tree rootstock for grafting, please call our office to place your order! We have apple and pear root stock available for $1.00 each. Please keep in mind that root stock is not a tree in itself; it must be grafted to scion wood before it can be planted.
